Calculator looks like a great addition Nov 14, 2008 I love gadgets and will buy any I do not have. I have to admit the calculator looks like it will be something I will get a lot of use out of. I have often wished for something that would calculate larger or smaller portions and was happy when I found this.
Birthday gift for my beau, a CHEF May 21, 2008 My boyfriend is a chef (a graduate of Johnson & Wales U). He was executive chef in Providence for a few years and now has started his own catering company.
He did not even know such a calculator existed. Nor did I. He wanted a calculator to take with him to meet clients at their homes and come up with some quick estimates. Now he can do so much more!
Good Stuff Jan 21, 2008 This calculator does everything I wanted. Easy to use, easy to understand manual, very good product.Calculated Industries KitchenCalc 8305 PRO Master Chef Edition Recipe Conversion Calculator with Dual Digital Timer

a gift worth giving Dec 31, 2007 I bought this item for my sister for Christmas because she found it quite laborious converting measurements. Standard, metric, liquid, dry, it can be daunting and scaling a recipe up or down can be confusing especially if fractions are involved. She was so thrilled with the calculator I may just have to get one for myself. Something to fiddle around with during TV commercials. Someone else complained about the plastic cover fitting too tightly and forcing keys down. My answer to that person is a resounding NO. I do NOT use any electronic device in the food preparation area. I do my conversions and put them on paper to refer to while actually cooking. I can't imagine doing it in the midst of actually cooking the food. Sort of like writing the recipe while you are cooking the dish. Maybe that makes sense to me only because I am a retired chef. I highly recommend this product based solely on my sister's opinions. She also found the dual timers convenient.

Works well but problems with the cover Nov 09, 2006 The KitchenCalc does conversions as promised and is very good at them. The timing functions also work.
But, the device came with a flexible plastic cover to allow it to be used in a cooking envronment. To put the cover on, you need to stretch it to the point that several keys at the edge are forced down. This keeps the calculator from working.
How can a product be sold without even minimal functionality testing? Yes - it calculates. But, no, the KitchenCalc is not splashproof. Didn't anyone try using the calculator with the flexible plastic shield on?
It's worth buying, but keep it clear of the cooking area. Rated 2 stars because the lack of a functional cover keeps it from being used in the food-preparation area.
